Magnitude 7.4 quake strikes Colombia: dozens of buildings collapse

A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday at 7:34 am local time, with its epicentre in the Chocó department. Dozens of buildings collapsed in Pereira, Cali and Quibdo, while in Manizales one of the towers of a neo-Gothic cathedral fell onto the nave. Evacuations were ordered across several cities, and the quake was also felt in neighbouring Venezuela.
