1 in 5 people may carry hidden heart risk detectable with a simple blood test

A study of more than 20,000 people found that very high levels of the inherited particle Lp(a) are linked to a significantly greater risk of major cardiovascular events, especially stroke and cardiovascular death. Elevated Lp(a) typically causes no symptoms and is missed by standard cholesterol tests. A simple blood test can detect this hidden risk.
