Total solar eclipse draws 460,000 visitors to Spain — authorities warn of wildfire risk
Northern Spain is set to be one of the world's best vantage points for Wednesday's total solar eclipse, drawing an estimated 460,000 extra visitors. Spanish authorities have warned that the influx raises the risk of devastating wildfires, as vegetation is exceptionally dry. Environment Minister Sara Aagesen, speaking in Niebla, cautioned that "the smallest spark or carelessness could lead to devastating forest fires."
