Three dead, three rescued as tourists take deadly risks on Canary Islands coast

Three people have drowned and three more were rescued off the Canary Islands since the start of August 2026. A video circulating on social media shows swimmers waiting at a breakwater for huge Atlantic waves or jumping into the ocean from height. The incidents highlight a serious problem of reckless tourist behaviour on the archipelago's coast.
