Polish Ombudsman questions smartphone levy as potentially incompatible with EU law

Poland's Ombudsman (RPO) has written to the Minister of Culture and National Heritage raising doubts about the new reprographic levy on smartphones. The RPO argues that extending the levy to consumer electronics may be disproportionate in the streaming era and potentially at odds with recent EU case law. The levy is charged to device buyers, with revenues directed to content creators.
