Iran appoints ex-Revolutionary Guard chief Mohsen Rezaei as new security secretary
Iran has replaced the secretary of its Supreme National Security Council, removing Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr, who had held the post only since late March. His successor is Mohsen Rezaei, former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The surprise appointment comes amid ongoing talks with the US over the Strait of Hormuz.
