Polish deputy minister: retirement age must rise — "demographics are dire, we can't bear it"
Jan Szyszko, deputy minister from the Poland 2050 party, called for an open debate on raising the retirement age. Speaking on Radio ZET, he said bluntly: "We are ageing — demographics are dire. Something must be done, because we simply cannot bear it." He acknowledged that the issue cost the Civic Platform party an election 12 years ago but argued it must be addressed.
