European gas prices jump over 3% on Strait of Hormuz uncertainty

European natural gas prices rose more than 3% on Monday as uncertainty over the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz rattled energy markets. Brokers cited unclear prospects for a deal on the key shipping route as the primary driver. EU underground gas storage levels are also at their lowest seasonal point in many years, according to Gas Infrastructure Europe.
