Western Europe records hottest-ever June-July as climate change drives drought and wildfires

The EU's Copernicus climate monitor reported that the combined average temperature for June-July in Western Europe hit 21.62°C, surpassing the 2022 record for the same period. Climate change has fuelled a summer of heat, drought and wildfires across the region. It is the hottest such period ever recorded.
