Deep partial solar eclipse and Perseid peak on 12 August in the UK
A deep partial solar eclipse will be visible across the UK on 12 August, beginning just after 6pm BST and reaching its maximum at around 7:13pm. From much of the country, about 90% of the sun's diameter will be obscured — the deepest eclipse seen there since 1999. The same night, the annual Perseid meteor shower reaches its peak. Observers are advised to find a location with a clear western horizon.
