Russia and Syria agree: military bases to be converted
Syria and Russia have agreed to end Moscow's military use of two key Mediterranean bases — Hmeimem air base and part of Tartous port. Damascus will take control of those facilities, while remaining military infrastructure will be converted into joint training centres, Syria's foreign ministry announced. The deal marks a significant shift in Russia's military footprint in the region.
