Pope Leo XIV urges Russia and Ukraine to protect civilians and halt attacks

Pope Leo XIV on Sunday called on both Russia and Ukraine to respect humanitarian law and stop targeting civilians, marking his first such direct appeal to both sides of the war. The pontiff also addressed the ongoing conflict in Sudan. The appeal came amid a fresh wave of overnight strikes on both sides.
