Roblox shares plunge 70% as player numbers slide for third straight quarter

Roblox shares dropped 70% after the company's second-quarter earnings revealed a persistent decline in players and lower-than-expected monetisation. Daily active players have fallen to 123 million from a peak of 152 million over three consecutive quarters, with monthly unique players also down by 10 million. CFO Naveen Chopra blamed a lack of "vintage viral games" and algorithm changes that prioritise long-term retention over near-term revenue. The company is pointing to AI as its proposed fix.
