Putin promotes Donbas veterans into power — analysts warn the West faces hostile neighbours

Vladimir Putin is increasingly appointing military figures with frontline Donbas experience to positions of power in Russia. Mikhail Komin, a Russian expert at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) in Washington, warns that if these individuals rise through power structures over the next 5–10 years, they will be deeply hostile towards Western states. Analysts see this as a deliberate Kremlin strategy to reshape Russia's future ruling elite.
