Gabon's capital Libreville gripped by severe water shortage for months
Libreville, the capital of Gabon, has been experiencing severe water shortages for several months, caused by low rainfall, ageing infrastructure and surging demand from a growing population. The government declared a state of emergency and called in military engineers to assist. A water distribution plan for affected neighbourhoods collapsed after private water distributors exploited the scheme for profit.
