Typhoon Dolphin hits China — red alert issued, nearly 100,000 evacuated

China's National Meteorological Centre issued a red typhoon alert — its highest warning level — on Sunday as Typhoon Dolphin barrelled toward the country's densely populated eastern coast. Flights were cancelled and nearly 100,000 people were relocated to safer areas as a precaution. The typhoon was expected to make landfall late Sunday or early Monday.
