Amazon's data centres on track to become the biggest pollution source in the US
Amazon's data centres are generating so much pollution that they risk becoming the single largest source of air contamination in the United States, according to a report by The New Republic. The rapid expansion of AWS cloud and AI infrastructure is driving enormous increases in energy consumption and associated emissions. The findings suggest the tech sector's environmental footprint is far larger than previously assumed.
