Defending champion Ferrand-Prévot withdraws from Tour de France Femmes due to illness

Pauline Ferrand-Prévot (Visma-Lease a Bike), Olympic mountain bike champion from Paris and defending winner of the Tour de France Femmes, withdrew before stage eight of the race due to illness. The decision was made in consultation with the team's medical staff. The French rider had struggled to stay with the general classification contenders during the race's hardest stages.
