Netflix cancels "Heckler" — Fincher's American Squid Game remake is dead
Netflix has cancelled "Heckler," an American remake of "Squid Game" announced in 2024 and set to be directed by David Fincher. The project collapsed partly due to the long-troubled creative partnership between Fincher and screenwriter Dennis Kelly, whose previous collaborations — including a "World War Z" sequel and a "Utopia" remake — all fell apart at various stages. Fincher also clashed with Netflix over reshoots on his film "Cliff Booth."
