Up to 200,000 dead in Mediterranean as EU scales back rescue operations
Up to 200,000 people may have died over the past decade on the Mediterranean migration route off Libya and Tunisia. EU countries are progressively scaling back search-and-rescue operations, leaving migrants fleeing war, violence and famine to drown.
