Sony warns PS5 buyers: physical disc support ending in early 2028
Sony is attaching notices to new disc-drive PS5 console boxes warning buyers that the console will cease to support physical game media at the beginning of 2028. The company is not backing away from its previously announced and controversial decision to stop manufacturing disc-based games. Customers buying a disc-drive PS5 are now explicitly warned about the limited future of physical media on the platform.
