Osaka demolishes Mertens in Toronto — revenge for Bad Homburg defeat

Naomi Osaka beat Elise Mertens in just 71 minutes at the Toronto tournament, repeating the demolition pattern Mertens suffered in Paris at the hands of Maja Chwalińska (6:4, 6:0). Mertens had been looking for revenge against Osaka after a previous loss in Bad Homburg but was beaten again. Earlier this year at Roland Garros, Polish player Chwalińska had eliminated Mertens 6:4, 6:0.
