NATO allies warn Russia is moving toward annexing Georgian regions

France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom condemned Russia's occupation of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, calling it a threat to European security. The four NATO states expressed concern over an agreement signed in May between the Kremlin and one of Georgia's regions. They warned that any full annexation of that territory would be met with an appropriate response.
