Iran attacks US-escorted tanker in Strait of Hormuz amid ceasefire signals

Iran reportedly attacked another tanker travelling the southern route through the Strait of Hormuz under US escort, despite the presence of around 40 American fighter jets and AWACS aircraft in the area. At the same time, signals are emerging that the conflict could be heading toward an end, but on terms unfavourable to Washington. The Strait of Hormuz remains dangerous for shipping.
