Italy rejects Spain's ultimatum over Schengen border controls, extends suspension
The Italian government rejected Spain's ultimatum and extended the suspension of Schengen border-free travel with Spain at least until 15 August. Rome introduced the restrictions in response to the migration crisis in Ceuta. Madrid considers the measures unjust and has threatened proportional retaliation.
