Man accused of ordering Caruana Galizia murder texted he was "preparing champagne" to celebrate

Yorgen Fenech, a 44-year-old Maltese businessman and heir to a property empire including several Hilton hotels, is on trial for complicity in the €150,000 contract killing of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. A taxi driver testified he acted as middleman between Fenech and the three men already convicted of carrying out the murder. The court heard Fenech texted from his boat that he was "preparing champagne" to celebrate before the killing took place. Caruana Galizia died in a car bombing in October 2017.
