Spain gives Italy until Sunday to lift border checks or face retaliation

Spain's government on Friday demanded that Italy lift border checks on Spanish citizens before the end of Sunday. Madrid warned that if Rome fails to comply, it will take "proportionate" action to protect the interests and dignity of Spanish citizens, according to the EFE news agency.
