Extreme heat grounds flights as airlines cut passengers and cargo loads

Record-breaking temperatures are becoming a growing threat to commercial aviation. Hot air is less dense, reducing wing lift and forcing airlines to cut passenger numbers, cargo or fuel loads before take-off. In extreme cases, flights are being cancelled altogether due to dangerously high tarmac temperatures.
