Cyclospora outbreak in US: 23,000 cases, 2 deaths, shredded iceberg lettuce to blame

A Cyclospora outbreak has swept nearly the entire United States, with cases confirmed in 47 states and total infections approaching 23,000, including over 10,400 laboratory-confirmed cases, according to the CDC. Two people have died from the parasitic illness, which causes severe diarrhoea. The FDA and CDC traced the source to shredded iceberg lettuce from a single producer.
