Rome: 400 evicted from Spin Time Labs squat camp in tents amid extreme heat
Rome city officials are scrambling to rehouse around 400 people living in tents in extreme heat after talks to save Spin Time Labs — a 10-floor building in the Esquilino district occupied by grassroots groups since 2013 — collapsed. The private owner refused the city council's offer to buy the property, amid a broader crackdown on squatted buildings by Giorgia Meloni's government. Residents were evicted at the end of last month.
