Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan sign defence pact in Mecca

Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan – three large Sunni-majority states – signed a mutual defence cooperation agreement in Mecca, Islam's holiest city. Pakistan is a nuclear-armed state and Turkey commands NATO's second-largest army. The pact stipulates that an attack on any one signatory is considered an attack on all three.
