Ukraine to mint commemorative coins honouring John Paul II and his 2001 Kyiv visit

The National Bank of Ukraine announced it will issue special commemorative coins in 2026 dedicated to Saint John Paul II and his visit to Ukraine in 2001. The coins are described as a symbol of "freedom, reconciliation, responsibility for historical memory and European unity." The decision reflects Ukraine's tribute to the Polish-born pope.
