João Almeida withdraws from Tour de Pologne after major peloton crash

João Almeida, one of the Tour de Pologne favourites, withdrew from the race just before the start of the Opole stage following a major crash in Thursday's peloton. The Portuguese UAE Team Emirates rider suffered no fractures but, facing significant time losses in the general classification, chose to focus on recovery ahead of the Vuelta a España.
