Rediscovered Megalodon fossils show the shark could reach 24 metres and live a century

Enormous Megalodon vertebrae thought to have been destroyed in 1989 were discovered sitting unnoticed on a museum shelf. Analysis of the fossils strengthens evidence that the giant shark could exceed 24 metres (79 feet) in length and live for nearly a century. Researchers also estimate that Megalodon newborns may have measured as much as 3.6 metres (12 feet) at birth.
