Metal-rich asteroids could supply materials needed to build a Mars colony

A new analysis shows that carefully selected metal-rich asteroids could be reached with current spacecraft technology and could supply the raw materials needed to build a Mars colony. Some asteroids may even contain ingredients for producing rocket fuel in space, dramatically cutting the cost of hauling supplies from Earth. Researchers suggest asteroids could function as orbital hardware stores for future Mars missions.
