EU signs IRIS2 deal — 348 satellites to rival Starlink from 2029
The European Commission and the SpaceRISE consortium signed a deal on Friday to deploy the EU's IRIS2 secure satellite communications system, targeting 348 satellites in orbit by 2029. The agreement includes 66 additional satellites beyond the original plan. Poland has pledged a contribution of €656 million to the programme.
