Polish minister: childless women should retire at the same age as men
Minister for Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz has suggested that women who choose not to have children should retire at the same age as men, floating the idea as one possible fix for Poland's pension system. Her remarks sparked a political storm. Defending herself on the WP programme "Tłit", she said she had been raising the retirement-age debate for some time and accused successive politicians of burying their heads in the sand over a problem everyone knows exists.
