DRC's worst-ever Ebola outbreak: 641 new cases and 282 deaths in a single week

The Bundibugyo virus outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has become the country's worst-ever Ebola epidemic. WHO data from the latest full reporting week recorded 641 new infections and 282 deaths. The outbreak was first flagged on 5 May in the Mongbwalu health zone in Ituri province, where four healthcare workers died within four days. Medical organisations warn that without immediate increased support, the death toll will continue to rise rapidly.
