Michael Jackson biopic 'Michael' drives Lionsgate to record $105m quarterly profit

The Michael Jackson biopic "Michael" powered Lionsgate's film division to a record $105 million profit for the June quarter, up from just $2.4 million a year earlier. The Motion Picture segment posted revenue of $587.3 million, more than doubling the prior-year figure. Lionsgate's overall quarterly loss narrowed to $29 million.
