Explosive drone found near Ukrainian cargo aircraft at Leipzig airport, detonator failed
German police disarmed a drone carrying a fist-sized package of the plastic explosive Semtex, discovered near two Antonov Airlines An-124 cargo aircraft at Leipzig airport shortly before midnight on August 4. Only a failed detonator prevented an explosion. The drone had been modified to evade the airport's detection systems, according to Germany's interior minister Alexander Dobrindt. Authorities are also investigating a possible second drone after an approaching aircraft collided with something midair.
