US to pay RWE €1.06bn to cancel offshore wind leases

The Trump administration has agreed to pay German energy company RWE €1.06bn to cancel its offshore wind leases. Trump has repeatedly dismissed wind turbines as unsightly and labelled them an "economic and environmental disaster." The payout is among the largest costs so far associated with the US retreat from renewable energy.
