Blue Origin: oxygen valve failure in BE-4 engine caused New Glenn rocket catastrophe

Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp publicly confirmed for the first time that the catastrophic loss of the New Glenn rocket and most of its launch pad at Cape Canaveral during a hot-fire test on May 28 originated from a main oxygen valve failure in one of the rocket's seven BE-4 first-stage engines. The company has conducted component-level and engine hot-fire tests to understand the failure mode and develop mitigations. The investigation is ongoing.
