Zbtlink routers secretly phone home to China with a root-access backdoor

Security researcher Jacob Baines at VulnCheck found that routers made by China's Zbtlink — sold under Zbtlink and Wiflyer brands on Amazon — are hardcoded to ping servers traced back to China. Once connected, those servers gain full root access with no authentication required. The discovery lends credibility to the FCC's recent sweeping ban on new foreign-made routers, announced this past spring on national security grounds.
