Trump's FCC eliminates TV ownership cap, allowing reach beyond 39% of US households
The FCC voted 2–1 to eliminate the National Television Ownership Rule, which had barred any single broadcaster from reaching more than 39% of US TV households. The rule was set by Congress over 20 years ago. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr's office said the change will help broadcasters compete with streaming platforms and that each merger will now be reviewed case by case.
