Polish Interior Ministry pledges support for 20-year-old volunteer firefighter seriously injured on duty
Deputy Interior Minister Wiesław Leśniakiewicz has assured that Amadeusz Szmidt, a 20-year-old volunteer firefighter from Piława Górna seriously injured during a firefighting operation, will receive financial assistance. The minister issued instructions to the national fire chief to handle the matter. The ministry's response follows a Wednesday report by Wirtualna Polska that brought Szmidt's plight to public attention.
