Congo bans cobalt and copper concentrate exports, hitting Glencore and Chinese miners
The Democratic Republic of the Congo, the world's largest cobalt producer, has imposed a ban on exports of cobalt and copper concentrates. The move directly threatens the revenues of major Chinese mining companies, Switzerland's Glencore and a Kazakh mining group. The DRC holds enormous reserves of critical minerals while remaining one of the world's poorest nations.
