Enola Gay over Hiroshima — 81 years since the atomic bomb
In the early hours of 6 August 1945, the B-29 bomber "Enola Gay", commanded by Colonel Paul Tibbets, took off from North Field airfield. Tibbets named the aircraft after his mother, Enola Gay Tibbets. Hiroshima and Nagasaki remain global monuments warning humanity about the dangers of nuclear weapons.
