Heatwave cuts output at EU power plants including Poland's, but no blackout risk
A heatwave and low river levels have forced several power plants across the EU, including in Poland, to reduce output. European Commission energy spokeswoman Anna-Kaisa Itkonen said in Brussels on Thursday that despite a tense situation, there is currently no risk to energy security in the bloc. Power plants rely on river water for cooling and are vulnerable to summer heat extremes.
