Polish government proposes OKI savings accounts instead of scrapping capital gains tax

The Polish government is proposing Personal Investment Accounts (OKI) as an alternative to abolishing the capital gains tax known as the Belka tax. The accounts are expected to attract new retail investors, similar to the earlier Employee Capital Plans (PPK), but industry representatives say success depends on making the product simple enough for ordinary savers. Financial institutions are expected to bear the brunt of explaining the new scheme to customers.
