Critical BMC flaws found in servers from HPE, Dell and Lenovo — backdoor risk

Security firm runZero disclosed over 12 new vulnerabilities in Baseboard Management Controllers (BMCs) used in enterprise servers from HPE, Supermicro, Dell, Lenovo, Huawei and others at Black Hat. BMCs allow remote hardware management even when servers are powered off, making them a high-value attack target. Scans found 86,000 internet-exposed BMCs and 120,000 internal devices, with researchers warning that this parallel attack surface is widely under-patched.
